The airport in Dubai has resumed its full schedule after a bout of chaos caused by flooding.

Dubai's major airlines, Emirates and flydubai, have announced that they have resumed their full flight schedules after severe rainfall hit the United Arab Emirates and neighboring countries, causing chaos at Dubai airport.

Although operations are back to normal, there is still a backlog of passengers from the affected flights. The president of Emirates, Sir Tim Clark, admitted that the airline's response was not perfect, but the priority now is to give assistance to passengers whose travel plans were disrupted.

Due to a flooded taxiway, planes were unable to reach the runway to take off, leaving passengers stranded in the terminal building. The airport authorities have established a task force to sort and deliver the approximately 30,000 pieces of luggage left behind. Passengers' accounts of the situation were harrowing, with thousands stranded and the airport being described as "a sea of bodies on every surface." The airlines warn that it may take "some days" to clear the backlog of rebooked passengers, but they have restored regular flight schedules and are working hard to ensure that all passengers reach their destinations as soon as possible.
