Dubai has announced the working hours for the public sector during Ramadan 2024

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources has announced this year's Ramadan working hours for the public sector.

The working hours for public sector employees will be shortened during Ramadan, and flexible or remote schedules will be allowed.

In Ramadan 2024, the public sector implemented a new work schedule for its employees. According to the new schedule, the employees will work from 9 am until 2.30 pm from Monday to Thursday and from 9 am until midday on Fridays. This means that they will work 27.5 hours per week, which is a reduction from the previous schedule.

This change aims to improve employees' work-life balance while still providing efficient and effective public services.

Employees will also be granted the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays during the month if, at most, 70 percent of the entity's total number of employees do so.

The announcement was made on X (formerly Twitter). Shorter Ramadan working hours for the private sector are likely to follow suit, with the official confirmation from the UAE government to be based on moon sightings by UAE astronomers.
