Dubai school holiday dates for Eid al-Fitr 2024 have been confirmed
It has been announced that private schools in Dubai will have a week off for Eid Al Fitr, aligning with the public sector's holiday schedule. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) confirmed via social media that all private schools will be closed from Monday, April 8 to Sunday, April 14. This means students will have a three-week break, including the two weeks of spring break.
The UAE cabinet has also declared a one-week Eid Al Fitr holiday for the public sector, meaning federal government employees will have a nine-day long weekend. This shows the importance of recognizing and celebrating religious holidays in the UAE.
While the days off for the private sector are still to be confirmed, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has confirmed the Islamic Calendar dates for the Eid Al Fitr holiday period. Depending on the moon's sighting, private sector employees can expect a long weekend from Monday, April 8, to Shawwal 3.
As we anticipate the official announcement of the private sector's days off, it is important to recognize the significance of Eid Al Fitr and the value of taking time off to celebrate with family and friends. This holiday marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and reflection for Muslims worldwide.
We hope that everyone in Dubai, whether in the public or private sector or attending school, will have an enjoyable and restful Eid break. Let us take this time to appreciate the diversity and inclusivity of the UAE, where different cultures and religions are respected and celebrated. Work will resume on Monday, April 15, for most, but until then, let us embrace the holiday spirit and make the most of this well-deserved time off.
Happy Eid Al Fitr to all
