EGA's Engineer the Future STEM programme has reached over 7,300 students in the academic year 23-24.

Emirates Global Aluminium has announced that its Engineer the Future programme reached over 7,300 students from 29 schools during the 2023-2024 academic year. The initiative aims to introduce students to real-life applications of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in industry, with the goal of encouraging them to pursue careers in these fields.

The programme, delivered in partnership with the Emirates Schools Establishment, targets students in grades nine to 12 and includes interactive learning opportunities, workshops, and a practical competition called 'The EGA Aluminium Design and Innovation Challenge'. This year, over 160 student teams participated in the challenge, using science, technology, engineering, and mathematics applications to address challenges in sustainable mobility, architecture, product design, and green solutions with aluminium.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium, highlighted the importance of STEM for the UAE's industrial growth strategy, expressing EGA's commitment to driving innovation and inspiring youth to contribute to the country's industries and knowledge-based economy. He also encouraged more schools to participate in the Engineer the Future programme.

Mohammed Al Qassim, Director-General of the Emirates Schools Establishment, emphasized the strategic partnership with EGA to develop students' skills in STEM fields.

Additionally, the programme has positively impacted the education sector, with a significant number of female students participating. More than 55 percent of the students involved in the past academic year were females. Since its launch in 2017, Engineer the Future has reached over 30,000 students.

EGA, as a significant employer for STEM professionals, employs around 1,500 people in these fields, including over 500 UAE nationals.
