The UAE now requires Umrah and Hajj travelers to receive flu vaccines.

The United Arab Emirates has recently announced a new mandatory requirement for travelers embarking on Umrah and Hajj journeys to Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has made it compulsory for all travelers to receive the influenza vaccination before their trip.

This decision was made to protect the health and safety of pilgrims, Haj performers, their families, and all members of society from infectious diseases. All travelers must get vaccinated ten days before travel to ensure sufficient immunity.

For travelers with chronic conditions, it is highly recommended to consult a physician before the journey to ensure their health stability and suitability. They should also ensure that they carry an adequate supply of medications.

If you received the influenza vaccine within the past year, you are exempt from getting a new one. You can acquire your vaccination certificate through the Al Hosn app and present it at travel checkpoints.

Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary of the Public Health Sector, emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to prioritizing the health and safety of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. Special care will be given to those with chronic illnesses, the elderly, pregnant women, and nursing mothers.

It is important to adhere to these new regulations to ensure the health and well-being of all travelers and the communities they will be visiting. By taking these precautions, we can help prevent the spread of infectious diseases and protect those most vulnerable in our society.
