In 2023, Dubai Customs reported a total of 1273 drug seizures.

Dubai Customs recently reported 1,273 drug seizures at the border ports of the Emirate of Dubai, including land, sea, air, and passenger operations. The seized drugs included Tramadol tablets, Captagon, opium, heroin, cannabis seeds, marijuana, restricted narcotic drugs, and others. The department is focused on combating all forms of smuggling, especially narcotics, to protect the community and the national economy from their negative effects.

Mansoor Al Malik, Executive Director for Policies and Legislation Division at Dubai Customs, emphasized the department's commitment to protecting the community from narcotics and contraband. The five-year plan from 2021-2026 has a major strategic goal to lead safe customs worldwide.

Rashid Al-Dhabbah Al-Suwaidi, Acting Director of Sea Customs Management, highlighted Dubai's international reputation in countering drugs and their risks. The total seizure reports for the past year amounted to 3,735, including 1,273 drug seizures.
Mohammed Abdullah Al-Suwaidi, Senior Manager of Intelligence Operations in Dubai Customs, confirmed the department's efforts to combat cross-border organized crime. He mentioned that Dubai Customs has helped other customs authorities worldwide to thwart drug smuggling attempts.

Dubai Customs utilizes the Siyaj security system to monitor customs ports in the Emirate. The system employs modern technologies such as AI, binocular techniques, drones, eco-friendly electric cars, and unique devices to detect contraband and dangerous substances. The department also conducts rapid intervention operations, including the use of drones and the K9 dog unit.

In a successful operation called “Cockpit”, Dubai Customs foiled the smuggling of 234.68 kilograms of hashish, preventing them from reaching the UAE.
