Mark Rutte has been chosen as the next Secretary General of NATO by the Allies.

The North Atlantic Council has decided to appoint Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte as the next Secretary General of NATO, succeeding Jens Stoltenberg. Rutte will assume the role of Secretary General on October 1, 2024, when Stoltenberg’s ten-year term as head of the Alliance expires.
