Saqr Ghobash emphasizes the UAE's strong parliamentary heritage.

Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), emphasized the UAE's rich parliamentary heritage. He highlighted the unique model of Shura (consultative governance) and its evident impact on the significant achievements of the Council in exercising its powers and responsibilities.

In a statement marking the International Day of Parliamentarism on 30th June, Ghobash noted that this day underscores the United Nations' recognition of the crucial role parliaments play. He said, "It also highlights the responsibility of parliamentarians to represent their people and fulfill their aspirations for stable, secure, and developed societies."

Ghobash affirmed the Federal National Council's commitment to aligning with the UAE's official policies. He emphasized the Council's active enhancement of communication with global communities and parliaments, articulation of the UAE's positions on various national, regional, and international issues, and fostering fraternal relations and cooperation with both fraternal and friendly nations. Additionally, he stated that the FNC aims to build strong parliamentary partnerships with key international institutions and geopolitical groups. This will promote the UAE's cultural image to bolster its global standing and leadership, thereby earning respect and admiration from countries and peoples worldwide.
