Soler from UAE Team Emirates takes third place at Vuelta summit.

Marc Soler of UAE Team Emirates came close to achieving a stage win at the Vuelta España. He finished in 3rd place behind stage winner Pablo Castrillo (Kern Pharma). Soler initiated an attack right from the start and formed a strong group of 9 riders. They built a lead of almost 10 minutes ahead of the peloton on the relatively short stage from Ourense to the Estación de montaña de Manzaneda (137km). As the group approached the base of the final climb with -13km, Soler made another move but was surpassed by Castrillo and Max Poole (DSM Firmenich) who finished in 2nd place.

In Belgium, Tim Wellens performed well in the individual time trial (ITT) at the Renewi Tour which resumed in Tessenderlo (15.4km). He finished in 5th place with a time of 17’15”, trailing stage winner and new race leader Alex Segaert (Lotto-Dstny) by 16 seconds.
