The Dubai Open Chess Tournament will draw 200 players from 28 countries.
A total of 200 players representing 28 countries will compete for top honors at the 24th edition of the Dubai Open Chess Tournament.
The Dubai Chess and Culture Club will host the prestigious tournament, scheduled to take place from May 25th to June 2nd, 2024.
The details of the tournament were announced during a press conference held today at the Dubai Chess and Culture Club. The conference was attended by Najib Mohammed Saleh, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Chess and Culture Club, Othman Musa, director of the tournament, and Mohammed Al Husseini, Executive Director of the Club.
Saleh emphasized that the tournament is one of the largest and most renowned international tournaments with an outstanding reputation. It has been and continues to be an important milestone in the careers of many prominent figures in the world of chess, such as world champion Magnus Carlsen.
This year, the tournament is set to attract the world’s top chess grandmasters, including Teymur Radjabov from Azerbaijan, Raunak Sadhwani from India, and Lu Miaoyi, the Chinese chess player who holds the title of Woman Grandmaster. Saeed Ishaq, an International Chess Federation Master, will lead the UAE team in the tournament. The Dubai Open Chess Tournament is one of the biggest tournaments in the Middle East and attracts players from all over the world. First held in 1999 to provide exposure to the UAE’s young talent, the Dubai Open Chess Tournament is now one of the most well-known and strongest open tournaments in the world, with a prize fund of US$52,000.
