The first round of the Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship kicked off with great enthusiasm in Abu Dhabi.

The Khaled bin Mohammed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship began at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City with intense competitions featuring top athletes from local clubs and academies. The first day included matches for U18, adults, and masters categories, with 700 male and female athletes from across the country showcasing impressive skills. M.O.D UAE took the lead at the end of the day, followed by Al Wahda Jiu-Jitsu Club and Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club.
The championship has a ranking system to recognize athletes and clubs based on their performance and results throughout all five rounds of the championship. Friday’s competitions were attended by several dignitaries, including Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development, among others.
Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, emphasized the championship's significance in promoting and developing the sport locally and internationally, supported by the wise leadership's limitless support for sports, and particularly jiu-jitsu.
Igor Lacerda, a coach of Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, and Ariadne Oliveira, coach of Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club, both highlighted the high competitiveness among athletes, praising their teams’ performances.
Individual winners, including Omar Alfadhli of Al Wahda Club Jiu-Jitsu Academy, Dana Ali Albreiki of Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club, and Andre Luiz De Almeida of Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club, expressed their excitement and honor at winning gold medals in their respective categories.
