The Korean government has dedicated $17.9 billion to the R&D budget for 2025.

The Korean Science Ministry has announced that it will allocate 24.8 trillion won (US$17.9 billion) for its research and development (R&D) budget next year. This increased funding will be directed towards artificial intelligence, bio, and quantum projects. Specifically, 3.5 trillion won will be funneled into artificial intelligence chips, advanced biotechnology, and quantum technology to drive national innovation. Additionally, 2.94 trillion won will be allocated for basic research, while another 2.4 trillion won will go toward cutting-edge technologies such as semiconductors and next-generation communications. The government will also be investing over 1 trillion won in the space industry for the first time.
