The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has won three awards at the Excellence in Procurement Awards MENA 2024.

The Digital Procurement Platform by the UAE Ministry of Finance (MoF) received three awards at the Excellence in Procurement Awards MENA 2024, organized by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS). The platform won in two categories: Best Use of Digital Technology and Best Procurement Transformation Programme, and was highly commended in the Best Public Procurement Project of the Year category.

Mariam Mohamed Al Amiri, Assistant Under-Secretary of the Financial Management Sector, and Nadia Sultan Al Ali, Director of the Digital Procurement Platform, accepted the awards on behalf of the UAE Ministry of Finance.

Al Amiri stated, "These awards demonstrate the ministry’s dedication to innovation and excellence in procurement practices through digital transformation. In today’s business world, it is essential to proactively meet customer needs using advanced technology and without bureaucracy."

She emphasized that the UAE Ministry of Finance focuses on enhancing the role of small and medium-sized enterprises, supporting in-country value and Emiratisation, fostering strategic partnerships among federal entities, implementing digital policies and procedures, eliminating paper transactions, improving expenditure efficiency, enhancing the supplier journey, reducing the purchasing cycle timeframe, adopting electronic contracts and signatures, promoting sustainability and technological innovation, ensuring flexibility and transparency, and implementing a digital procurement catalogue and framework agreements, among other initiatives.

The awards’ criteria required showcasing the project's challenges, best practices, innovations, expected outcomes, measurable benefits, main challenges, lessons learned, and proof of performance. The Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, based in the UK, is the largest non-profit professional organization specializing in procurement and supply, with over 70,000 members across 180 countries.

The CIPS Procurement Future Conference and Excellence in Procurement Awards MENA 2024 provides an opportunity to recognize outstanding performance in the field. The awards’ judging panel consists of experts in the procurement and supply sectors.
