The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award helps find sustainable solutions for the global water crisis.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, has seen significant development since its inception. The biennial award, with total prizes of US$1 million, aims to encourage the development of innovative solutions for water scarcity problems around the world. It is supervised by the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE).

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Suqia UAE, highlighted the significant role of the award in supporting the UAE's efforts to provide solutions to global water challenges and contribute to sustainable development.

The 4th cycle of the award has garnered substantial attention from companies, research centers, organizations, and innovators. Over the past three cycles, 31 winners from 22 countries were rewarded for their innovative projects in water desalination and purification using renewable energy sources.

The categories of the award have expanded to include new technologies dedicated to water production, distribution, storage, monitoring, desalination, and purification using renewable energy sources. The award now comprises four main categories: Innovative Projects Award, Innovative Research and Development Award, Innovative Individual Award, and Innovative Crisis Solutions Award.

Each category has subcategories with specific prize amounts, encouraging more research centers and individuals to participate in the award and increase the number of people benefiting from sustainable and innovative solutions to address global water scarcity.
