The sustainable waterfall in Hatta will be opening soon as a new attraction
Have you heard about the new Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project in Dubai? It was announced by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai in January 2021. According to the people behind the project, it will open to the public once it gets approval from the authorities, most likely towards the end of summer when the weather gets cooler.
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is behind this project, along with other projects in Hatta, which will help transform this area into a hub for tourism and investment while preserving its heritage. Sustainability is a key aspect of these projects.
The waterfall project in Hatta is unique because it uses the slope of the upper dam (Al Ghabra dam) to create a natural waterfall. The water in the attraction is collected, recycled, and pumped back to the top of the dam, which makes it sustainable. A waterway will also be built along the parking area below the dam for picture opportunities, and visitors can enjoy watching fish bred in the stream.
This area will also have recreational spaces like children’s play areas, cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops. The Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said that the project will offer a unique experience for tourists and showcase the beauty of the mountainous areas of the UAE.
The Hatta Sustainable Waterfalls project is expected to become a major tourist attraction in the UAE, just like many other waterfalls in the country. We will keep you updated as soon as we get more information about its opening.
