To Lam has been nominated as the President of Vietnam.

Vietnam's Communist Party Central Committee has nominated General To Lam, a Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, to be the President of Vietnam, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trọng had a working session with key leaders on Saturday, right after the closing of the Party Central Committee’s ninth session the same day. During this session, many important issues were decided, and a number of officials were selected to nominate to the 15th National Assembly (NA) for the positions of State President and NA Chairman.

Trọng congratulated the committee for unanimously nominating To Lam, a Politburo member and Minister of Public Security, to the NA for election as the next State President. Additionally, Tran Thanh Man, a Politburo member and NA Permanent Vice Chairman, was nominated for the top legislator position.
