UAE took part in the 10th IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Armenia.

The Federal National Council Parliamentary Division participated in the Tenth IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians, which took place from September 12th to 14th, 2024, in Yerevan, Armenia.

During the conference, FNC member Majid Al Mazrouei addressed Session 3, which focused on providing education and employment opportunities to vulnerable and marginalised groups. He highlighted the United Arab Emirates' successful initiatives, including the "Education for All" program, which offers free or subsidised education, the "Window of Hope" program, which focuses on training and employing people with disabilities, and the "Youth Empowerment" program, which promotes entrepreneurship among young people.

Mazrouei emphasized the challenges faced by vulnerable and marginalised groups in accessing education and employment opportunities, attributing these difficulties to economic and social factors. He stressed the need for employment policies that promote the inclusion of these groups in the labor market and called for training and rehabilitation programs to equip them with the skills needed in the modern digital economy.

Sarah Mohammed Falaknaz, another FNC member and Vice Chair of the UAE Parliamentary Division at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), chaired Session 5, titled "Unconference," where young parliamentarians discussed education and employment in times of crisis. Topics voted on included leveraging education outcomes for future generations and global solidarity in safeguarding education in conflict zones.

Co-organized by the IPU and the National Assembly of Armenia, the conference brought together over 300 young parliamentarians from approximately 150 countries. The event aimed to facilitate the sharing of experiences, strengthen youth participation in parliaments, and ensure the full engagement of young MPs in parliamentary work.

The conference’s theme, "Avoiding lost generations: Safeguarding education and employment in all circumstances," focused on finding solutions to ensure uninterrupted access to education and to create job opportunities for young people.
