Dubai's skyline is the attraction. These are the tickets people fly in for. Book Burj Khalifa a few days ahead; the rest can be same day.
The one ticket every Dubai trip needs. Levels 124 and 125 give the classic 360° view over Downtown, the Gulf and the desert beyond. Sunset slots sell out first and cost more; a late morning slot is cheaper and quieter with the same view. The premium Sky ticket adds level 148 and a lounge. Entry is from the lower ground floor of Dubai Mall.
A 150 m golden picture frame in Zabeel Park that literally frames old Deira on one side and new Dubai on the other. The glass floor sky bridge and the museum of Dubai's past and future make it one of the best value hours in the city. Sunset is the time to go.
Level 52 of The Palm Tower looks straight down the trunk and fronds of Palm Jumeirah, the only place you can see the island's shape in person. Combine it with Nakheel Mall below and Aquaventure across the water for a full Palm day.
The cheaper, quieter Burj Khalifa alternative on Sheikh Zayed Road, and the one with a view of the Burj Khalifa itself. A glass floor walkway, a transparent slide from the 53rd to the 52nd floor, and the outdoor Edge Walk as a separate booking below.
A harnessed walk along the outside ledge of the Sky Views tower, 219 m above Sheikh Zayed Road, hands free, with the Burj Khalifa directly in front of you. The most accessible adrenaline experience in Downtown and it needs no training.
The torus shaped building covered in Arabic calligraphy on Sheikh Zayed Road. Inside are immersive floors on space, ecology and wellness, with a children's zone on the top level. Tickets are timed and regularly sell out a week or more ahead, so book before you land.
The fountain show itself is free from the promenade. This ticket puts you on the water in a traditional abra, or on the floating boardwalk, for the 6 pm to 11 pm shows with the Burj Khalifa lit up behind the jets. The cheapest ticket on this page and one of the most photographed.
Every Burj Khalifa bundle in one place: At The Top with Dubai Frame, with the Aquarium, with IMG Worlds, with a desert safari or with Museum of the Future. Combos usually save 8 to 15 percent, but most are non refundable, so fix your dates before you buy.
Afternoon tea, lunch or dinner on level 122, one floor below the observation deck, with a window table facing the Gulf. Bookings include fast track access, so for couples this is a better use of money than the observation ticket plus a meal elsewhere.
A table for 22 lifted 50 m by crane over Skydive Dubai, with the Marina skyline and Palm in every direction. Lunch, sunset and dinner sittings; the sunset one is the reason it exists. Not for anyone nervous of heights, and there is no washroom mid meal.
The desert starts 45 minutes from Downtown. Evening safaris are the default, morning ones are cheaper and cooler for summer, overnight is the one people talk about afterwards.
The standard Dubai safari and the best selling activity in the city: hotel pickup around 3 pm, 30 minutes of dune bashing in Lahbab's red sand, camel ride, sandboarding, sunset photos, then a Bedouin style camp with henna, shisha, unlimited BBQ and belly dance, tanoura and fire shows. Back by 9 to 10 pm.
The same shape of evening as the standard safari at the lowest price Headout lists, with shorter dune bashing and a bigger shared camp. Fine for groups on a budget and families who mainly want the dinner and shows. Pickup is in a shared minibus rather than a 4x4 on the cheapest options.
Same desert, a fraction of the crowd. Conservation reserve settings with oryx and gazelle, falconry, vintage Land Rover options, table service and a multi course dinner under lanterns. The right choice for anniversaries and for anyone who has done the budget safari before.
For families with young children, early flights, or June to August when the evening camp is still hot. Pickup around 8 am, dune bashing, a camel farm visit, sandboarding and refreshments at camp, back at your hotel by lunch.
Everything in the evening safari, then you stay: sleep in a tent under a sky with no light pollution, wake to a sunrise camel trek and breakfast. Best October to April; summer nights stay above 30°C.
If the shows and dinner do not interest you, book the adrenaline only version: longer dune bashing, self drive quads or buggies, and sandboarding, with the camp stop kept short. The best pick for groups of friends in their twenties.
Self drive quad bikes on the red dunes at Lahbab, either as a 30 minute add on to a safari or as a dedicated session with a guide leading the route. Helmets and goggles provided. Minimum age is usually 16 to drive; younger children can ride pillion on some listings.
Two and four seat Polaris buggies with roll cages and a guide in front, the more comfortable option if you want speed without balancing a quad. Sunrise and sunset sessions have the best light and the least heat.
Just the 4x4 ride over the dunes, with a sunset stop and no camp, for people with an evening plan elsewhere. Not suitable for children under 3, pregnant travellers or anyone with back problems, and do not eat a heavy meal in the two hours before.
Snowboarding on sand: slower than snow, softer landings, no lift, so you walk up each run. Included as a short stop on most safaris; these listings give you proper time on the dunes with boards for every size.
The photo ride at the camp lasts two minutes. A real trek is 45 minutes to two hours through the dunes at sunrise or sunset, usually with Arabic coffee and dates at the end. Slow, quiet and the closest thing to how the desert was crossed before the roads.
A 4 am pickup for a sunrise flight over the dunes with oryx and camels below, followed by a falcon show and breakfast. One of the few Dubai activities that is better in winter and summer alike, because it is finished before the heat.
Dubai has more theme park capacity than anywhere in the region. Water parks are best November to April in the mornings; the indoor parks are the summer answer.
The biggest water park in the region, on the tip of Palm Jumeirah: 105 slides and attractions, the Leap of Faith drop through a shark tank, the Trident Tower and a kilometre of private beach. Arrive at opening; queues for the headline slides build by 11 am.
Atlantis's aquarium, reopened after a full transformation with 430 new animals across 19 habitats, projection mapping and a live mermaid show. The aquarium plus Aquaventure combo is the usual way to do it. Formerly The Lost Chambers.
Shallow water and deep water dolphin encounters in Atlantis's lagoon, from a 30 minute meet in waist deep water to swimming with them. The ticket includes same day access to Aquaventure, which changes the value calculation completely.
The world's largest indoor theme park, with Marvel, Cartoon Network and Lost Valley dinosaur zones. Fully air conditioned, which makes it the go to family day in summer. Weekday afternoons have the shortest lines.
One ticket across MOTIONGATE, LEGOLAND, LEGOLAND Water Park and Real Madrid World on the Abu Dhabi road. The multi park pass only pays off over two or more days, so pair it with a hotel on site or the Lapita next door.
Hollywood studio park at Dubai Parks and Resorts: DreamWorks (indoor), Lionsgate, Columbia Pictures and Smurfs Village zones. The John Wick and Hunger Games coasters are the serious rides. This listing includes a free shuttle from central Dubai.
The fastest vertical launch coaster in the world, inside a mall: 0 to 92 km/h straight up through the roof. A ten minute ride, so treat it as an add on to a Dubai Hills afternoon rather than a destination.
A hotel water park in Bur Dubai with slides, a lazy river and pools, quieter and closer to the old city than the big parks. A good half way option for families staying in Deira or Bur Dubai who do not want the Aquaventure crowds.
Sharjah's Pearls Kingdom water park and Island of Legends amusement park, 30 minutes from Deira and much cheaper than the Dubai equivalents. Alcohol free, family focused, and very busy on weekends.
Between May and September the city lives indoors from 11 am to 5 pm. These are the tickets that make a summer trip work, and they are good in winter too.
One of the world's largest suspended aquariums, inside Dubai Mall. You can see the main tank free from the mall floor; the ticket gets you the tunnel, the Underwater Zoo with penguins and crocodiles, and a glass bottom boat ride over the sharks.
An enclosed rainforest biodome at City Walk with sloths, toucans, a giant tree and 3,000 plants and animals across four levels. Small, cool and close to Downtown, an easy add on after the Burj Khalifa.

The Creek is where the city started, and it is still the best half day in Dubai for the money. Most of it costs nothing, and the paid parts are cheap.

150 million flowers arranged into castles, an Emirates A380 and a floral clock, open in the cooler months only, roughly November to May. Go at opening or in the last two hours before close; midday is hot and crowded.

The dhow shaped concert hall beside the Burj Khalifa, hosting opera, ballet, West End musicals, comedy and orchestras. Check what is on for your dates; the building is worth seeing even for a matinee.
A permanent aqua theatre show by the creator of Cirque du Soleil's O, in a custom built theatre at Al Habtoor City: 65 artists, a stage that floods and drains in seconds, and a 25 m high dive. The best show in the city and it runs most nights.
The Expo 2020 site turned into a district: Alif mobility pavilion, Terra sustainability pavilion, the Garden in the Sky observation platform and Al Wasl dome shows. Metro Route 2020 goes straight there. Quiet on weekdays.

An Emirati pearl diving themed water park with 40 plus rides including the Bandit Bomber suspended coaster and the region's biggest surfable wave. Multi park tickets with Ferrari World and Warner Bros. World are the value play.
Fully indoor, six themed lands, Gotham City, Metropolis, Bedrock, Cartoon Junction, with rides pitched at families rather than thrill seekers. The best Yas park for children under ten.
The first SeaWorld outside the US and one of the largest indoor marine parks in the world, with a 20 million litre Endless Ocean tank, eight realms and a research centre. Opened 2023; still the newest big ticket park on Yas.
Two park and three park tickets across Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World and SeaWorld, plus shuttle options from Dubai. Two parks in one day is realistic; three is not.

A compact zoo at Al Bahia with giraffe feeding, a petting farm and a walk through aviary, aimed at younger children. Closer to Dubai than downtown Abu Dhabi, so it works as a stop on the way down.
The UAE's oldest and largest zoo, at the foot of Jebel Hafeet in the garden city of Al Ain, 90 minutes from Dubai. The safari drive through the African plains is the highlight. Combine with the Al Ain Oasis, a UNESCO site, for a very different day out.
The Yas Mall branch of the role play city, larger than Dubai's and quieter on weekdays. Same format: children earn and spend play currency in 60 real world jobs.
Speedboat tours from the Corniche past Emirates Palace, the Etihad Towers and Lulu Island, or out to the mangroves. The 60 minute Corniche loop is the one to take.

What is open, what the weather does, and what to book early.
Peak season. 20 to 25°C days, every outdoor attraction open, Global Village, Garden Glow and Miracle Garden in full swing, Dubai Shopping Festival deals in the malls. Book Burj Khalifa and safaris a week ahead; hotels are at their most expensive.
Still ideal. Ramadan usually falls in this window in the late 2020s: restaurants mostly stay open now, but live shows on cruises and safaris are paused, and the city is quieter and cheaper. Eid brings fireworks and big ticket concerts.
Warming fast, 35°C plus by month's end. Last chance for Miracle Garden and Global Village; water parks and beaches are at their best in the mornings. Hotel prices start to drop.
40 to 45°C. Dubai moves indoors: IMG Worlds, the aquariums, AYA and ARTE, Museum of the Future, the malls, and Dubai Summer Surprises sales. Safaris still run; book the morning version. Hotel rates are at their lowest, and five star stays cost what three star does in January.
Heat breaks in October. Global Village reopens mid October, beaches and water parks return to full days, Miracle Garden opens in November. Good value before the winter rush.
Best weather of the year and the busiest. National Day (2 Dec) fireworks and parades, Christmas markets at the hotels, and New Year's Eve at Burj Khalifa, the one night you must have a reservation for anything. Book the whole trip a month out.

Burj Khalifa At The Top, an evening desert safari, a Marina dhow cruise, Aquaventure or IMG Worlds, and half a day in the souks and Al Fahidi. Those five cover the skyline, the desert, the sea, a park and the old city; the rest of this page is how to choose between the versions.
Three full days is enough for the essentials; five lets you add Abu Dhabi and a theme park without rushing. On a layover of eight hours or more you can still do the Burj Khalifa and Old Dubai.
Hotels and alcohol are expensive; almost everything else is cheaper than people expect. Attraction tickets run AED 25 to 250, taxis are inexpensive, street food in Deira costs AED 15 to 30 a meal, and summer hotel rates are half of winter's.

Yes, once. Level 124 and 125 is the standard ticket and the view is the same one the premium ticket gets, just busier. If you only want a skyline photo with the Burj in it, Sky Views or Dubai Frame is cheaper.
For a first visit, the standard evening safari with BBQ and shows. For couples, a luxury small camp safari. In summer or with toddlers, the morning safari. Overnight if you want the stars.
November to March. December and January are the busiest and most expensive; October and April are the sweet spot. Summer (June to September) is 40°C plus but everything indoors still runs and hotels are cheap.
IMG Worlds, Aquaventure, KidZania, Dubai Aquarium, Dolphinarium, Butterfly Garden, OliOli, Green Planet, and a morning safari. Global Village in season is the cheapest family night out. Most attractions are free or reduced for under threes.

Dubai has one of the lowest crime rates of any major city. The normal cautions apply: road crossings, heat, respecting local customs. Solo women travellers routinely report feeling safer here than at home.
Many nationalities get visa on arrival for 30 or 90 days; others need to apply in advance, usually through their airline. Check the official UAE government or your airline's page for your passport; rules change and we do not track them here.
75 to 90 minutes by car on the E11. Public bus E100 or E101 runs from Al Ghubaiba and Ibn Battuta for about AED 25. Most people take a day tour with pickup, or a taxi (roughly AED 250 to 300 each way).
Yes. Attractions stay open, restaurants serve during the day now, and the city is cheaper and quieter. Live entertainment on cruises and safaris is paused, and you should avoid eating on the street in daylight out of respect.
